Organo’s Story

Organo was founded by the directors of FHD Group - Nagesh and Vijaya. Organo started with a shared vision to provide an authentic living experience to people today, a life that not only is technologically progressive but one which revives cultures and brings people together. Passion for ‘change’ in the society today as well as in the ways of the industry, is the primordial force that pushed the team of Organo to form a community of people to own it, to enjoy living close to the elements, to create a force to protect it. Thus, Organo was born.

Frequently asked questions

What is collective farming? How is collective farming beneficial to individual farming?
Collective farming is an idea where the community, as a whole, grows vegetables and fruits instead of each individual growing on their own. There are many advantages to this type of approach.

01. Collective farming ensures that resources such as water, energy, fertilizer, etc. is used optimally which may not happen otherwise. These resources are shared and utilised more effectively for the betterment of the whole farm.

02. Collective farming provides an opportunity to grow a wide variety of crops in the common farm compared to individual farming where land may be limited and the variety of crops may be less.

03. Collectively farming makes access to experts viable. Since the entire community is carefully nurturing the farm, the cost of expert advice is split equally between everyone involved. In case of individual farming, this becomes very expensive. A bigger farm area with established infrastructure is generally more appealing to experts to spend time and resources to figure out solutions compared to small farmlands.

04. Collective farming is cheaper than individual farming.

05. Collective farming is more resilient to unforeseen conditions such as pest or weather.

06. Collective farming is aesthetically more beautiful to look at with farms long and wide without any fences or divisions.
What is the extent of collective farming in the community?
To determine the amount of farmland that must be dedicated to agriculture, a survey is conducted among customers and potential clients to understand their family food needs over the course of a typical week. Based on this feedback and previous experience, output is estimated through extrapolation and agriculture is planned. This does not always guarantee an accurate output of farm produce. It may sometimes be more and sometimes less. Accordingly the farm plan is changed to optimise the farm output for the next harvest.
Is the land registered as farm land/ agricultural land and home as residential category?
The entire land is Residential and is registered as a typical residential community. The difference is that, here, the density is around 3 units per acre with the remaining land used for agriculture and afforestation, whereas in the city it may go up to 8 to 10 units per acre with very little land left for anything else.
What level of community participation is needed in Farming and animal husbandry?
Since farming and animal husbandry is a highly experience and knowledge oriented field, it is recommended that the residents witness these activities. Since these are collectively owned and operated, it is recommended that the residents do not take part in the operations as it may unintentionally affect the activities. The residents are highly encouraged to grow food in their front and backyard to supplement their requirements.
